About Muratec America Inc.

Muratec America, Inc. is a U.S.-based subsidiary of Murata Machinery, Ltd. a privately held Japanese multinational corporation founded in 1935. Operating throughout North and South America, Muratec America is a manufacturer of fax-based multifunction (MFP) office equipment as well as desktop and small workgroup copier-based MFPs.

Company History

Muratec entered the U.S. market in 1982 as Murata Business Systems to sell fax machines through private-label agreements with multiple U.S. companies. In 1985, Murata began marketing its fax products under its own name from its corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas. The company changed its name in 1992 to Muratec and realigned its business model away from retail in order to focus on sales and distribution exclusively through a national business-to-business dealer channel.

Awards

Muratec products are frequently recognized by independent industry analysts as being some of the best in the industry. Most recently, the Muratec MFX-1700 was named the 2003 Best COHO/Satellite Office MFP by BERTL (Business Equipment Research and Test Laboratories).

In 2003, Muratec was recognized by more than 3,000 independent office technology dealers, earning the "Outstanding Performance - Secondary Product Line" award in the Business Technology Association's (BTA) annual Channel's Choice survey. In addition to being named the top secondary product line manufacturer, Muratec swept all four surveyed categories including: Corporate Support, Marketing Support, Product Line and Digital-Connected Products.
